Cleaning Window Rubber Seals

Step 1 clean the window molding with a mild soap solution mixed with warm water.

Dry completely with a clean towel. Vulcanizing services also available. Examine the windows periodically for signs of separation between the igus and their frames. Mix 1 2 cup of chlorine bleach with 5 cups of water.

Warm soapy water should be enough to keep your window seals clean and it s vital that you not let them come into contact with any chemicals no matter how non abrasive they may be as this may cause the seals to peel. Applying this protectant will also help scrub off any existing dirt that was not removed during the initial washing of the seals. Don t use heat guns to remove paint from window frames. The high velocity water stream may cause gaps between the igus and frames.

Gently rub a section of the rubber back and forth until it begins to shine. Pour a small amount of the rubber protectant solution onto a dry soft cloth. Caulk any gaps you find. Be careful with colours.

The bleach also removes most staining. Don t use pressure washers to clean windows. Wipe down the seals with the bleach solution which kills any remaining mold.
